Hello all,

Just wanted to let everyone know that my monthly at Dannys Chicago will begin tomorrow Monday June 5th. I am calling the night "Butlers Black Pearl Dance Party" in dedication to one of my most favorite dives back in New Orleans. It no longer exists so I thought I might try to recreate some of that vibe at my favorite bar in Chicago. Expect eclectic party music. Pass the word to all your friends.

I just got wind that one of the members of Telefon Tel Aviv, opened for STS9 at Irving Plaza, with a Live PA duet with GENETIC from Atlanta GA.

Anyone anyone...

I got to see Telefon make a surprise performance at STS9 Halloween Weekend during the REMIX hotel conference in San Fran... SO HEALTHY I just about ASCENDED!

Rarely have vocals and such beautiful electronic production been so effectively I haven't really found any artists that compare. But there's definitely quite a few out there who are giving vocals a whole new meaning...

Prefuse 73 - Every LP and EP he puts out has such unique and beautiful flavor...and his work with vocals stands alone in its field. From hiphop to funk, the vocals he utilizes are a perfect compliment to his chopped beats.

Dntel - Works with a number of vocalists throughout several releases, and actually does the production for the band The Postal Service. Not really comparable to Telefon, but here it is...

Tipper/Crunch - Hasn't done much work with vocalists since his debut LP, "The Critical Path". The newest LP/DVD "Surrounded", however, has a couple trax with very minimalist vocals, including an operatic epic, "Rotundus Maximus". His production is absolutely top-notch, however, and 2 more albums should be gracing our ears early in 2005. Check out www.tipper.cc

Si Begg - On his latest LP, Mr. Begg worked with a number of vocalists, ranging from hiphop and dancehall to nearly R & B/Soul. These songs, featuring the vocalist Jinadu, are as similar a feel to some of the TTV trax as I've found. Check out www.sibegg.com

Bit_Meddler - Since Mikey already mentioned 'em, we'll just say "Holy Mutherless Goats!" and move on. Absolutely incredible and incrimental production. See also Met_Biddler, whose utter desecrations of "Milkshake" and "Toxic" is one for the bootleg record books...

eDIT - Yup, Mikey likes it, and it's rippin'. No vocals, but OH THE GEEETAR!!! the melodies, the lilts and builds and bursts....love love love.....

TT in Paris

Just saw Telefon Tel Aviv in Paris. Amazing! I hadn't heard any of their work before and my friend had just been turned on to them so we went to check them out. Amazing venue, so intimate. It played at the Batofar on the Seine river. The Batofar is a boat with a huge light house on top of it. THe concert took place inside the boat. They started out strong and due to a power shortage they were forced to reboot in the middle fo their set but they were so funny, not being able to speak French and they picked up right where they left off. The audience was full of many nationalities, I'm surprised that it wasn't a packed house. I'm glad that it wasn't though, being able to be so close and see them create their music made the show so much better.

Has anyone else see TT?
